A TAS G3 Infinity amplifier upgrade is not the same kind of project as a speaker swap. It sits deeper in the signal chain. That is where the reward is, and also where the mistakes get more expensive.
Quick answer: TAS G3 Infinity is a Tesla amplifier upgrade path for owners who want more control and output from the audio system. It is intermediate to advanced installation work, not a beginner speaker replacement.
What an amplifier upgrade changes
A speaker changes how air moves. An amplifier changes how the speaker is driven. Both matter, but they solve different problems.
Control: Better amplifier control can make bass feel tighter instead of just louder.
Headroom: More useful power can help the system stay cleaner when music gets dense.
Signal chain: The amplifier affects what reaches the speakers before the cabin ever gets involved.
System matching: The result depends on the speakers, wiring, factory package, and installation quality.
Who should choose TAS
TAS makes the most sense when you already know the speaker path is not enough, or when you want to handle more of the audio system at once. It is also the point where DIY confidence matters.
Choose TAS if you are comfortable reading a wiring manual and checking connector orientation.
Choose TAS if you understand that amplifier access and trim removal need patience.
Do not choose TAS as a casual beginner install.
If you are unsure, start with installation manuals and support.

Installation level
Light Harmonic classifies TAS amplifier work as intermediate or advanced. That is not a warning label for decoration. It means the installer should be comfortable with electronics, trim access, wiring paths, and reading the manual before touching the car.
Improper installation, unsupported loads, non-OEM or non-Light Harmonic speaker combinations, and use outside published specifications may fall outside warranty service. This is the boring sentence. It matters.
What to check before ordering
Vehicle model, year, trim, and factory audio configuration.
Whether the intended speakers are OEM, Light Harmonic, or another aftermarket setup.
Whether the installer is comfortable with the published manual.
Whether you want optional installation support before the work begins.
Common questions
Is TAS plug and play?
TAS is designed for Tesla-specific integration, but it is not the same as a simple speaker plug-in. Treat it as an intermediate or advanced amplifier installation.
Should I upgrade speakers first or amplifier first?
If you are unsure, start with speakers. If the speakers are already the known bottleneck, that path is simpler. Add amplifier work when you want deeper signal-chain control.
Where are the manuals?
Use the TAS installation manuals. If the manual does not make sense, pause before opening the car.
The amplifier is where the system stops being casual. That is fine. Some work should ask for respect before it gives anything back.

Do not purchase this for the Model X at least. They are not compatible with the stock drivers or their infinity door speaker. The speakers clipped at 60% volume and completely messed up the EQ. Got a helix V18 amp instead couldn’t be happier. The customer service is also horrible they do not reply if something goes wrong.
What is the power rating of the current 2023 Model S amp.? I plan on replacing the current woofer with a 10" - what is the output impedance of the new amp.? Single or dual voice coil output? Thanks.
